When you’re as passionate about training and coaching as I am (and you’ve been doing it as long as I have) you start to develop a sense of what works. And what doesn’t. You ride out the trends. You see through the fads. And you naturally move toward the training principles getting consistent results. Over the years I’ve made mistakes. (What good coach hasn’t)? And I’ve changed my mind. (Once or twice…) I’ll be the first to admit I’m not doing all the same things I was doing five years ago. (Or last year, for that matter). But in my experience, the same can be said for all the best coaches and trainers of every discipline. And over the course of 10 + years in this industry, if I’ve learned anything, it’s this:If you come across a superior way of training your athletes or clients today then you were doing yesterday, you have an obligation to implement those changes.Immediately.It doesn’t mean your old way was ‘wrong’. It just means your new way is better. And, when you think about it, our entire function as coaches and trainers revolves around one single purpose: RESULTS.
